Photo shoot preperations
During our media lesson we learnt new photography skills that would help us gain a better understanding of how to take photographs for our magazines.
I learnt that Colourama meant the black backdrop that is used in the background behind the model.
I know that there are two lights that stand on either side of the model that are used to channel great light across the subject. These lights contain something known as soft boxes which have square grids in them to help diffuse the light and create perfect symmetry of light. Along with the flashlights, we learnt that poly boards were used to reflect/bounce light of the model. Reflector boards are also used to help compose light on the model, gold gives a warmer tone to the face as opposed to silver, which creates a harder light upon the models face.
Moreover, we learnt how to use a Nikon D7000 camera which holds 16 million mega pixels. The camera is 3.5 LDC.
There is two camera settings, A and S.
The A stands for aperture priority: how much light there is in the lens
The S stands for shutter priority: how quick or slow light comes through the lens.
There is a remote control on the lighting known as Godox. The camera transmits a signal and the godox receives it.

Magazine newstand
This image is of a newsstand at local newsagent called
‘Londis’. This image is of both children’s magazines and adult’s magazines. The
layout of each genre is different. For the children’s magazines the layout of
magazines is in a way, which the freebies are clearly shown. This will draw the
attention of the audience and will persuade them to buy it. Also for the
children’s magazines they have used bright colours, which will grab the
attention of the reader. The titles of the magazines are short and big so it’s
easy to remember. The children’s
magazines have also been put at the bottom so it’s easier for them to see and
reach. For the adults magazines they have been placed higher so they can get a
direct view of them these magazines look more sophisticated. The magazine has
big and bold letters so it’s easy and eye catching. The magazines have got all
the famous celebrities images on them. This will attract the customers and will
make them buy the magazines. The magazines layout is in the left third this is
where the left third of the magazine is shown. This is where the cover
lines/taglines are places also the image is more towards the left side so its
clear to see whom the magazines will be about.
My contents page and Evaluation
College magazine evaluation
For this task we had to make our own college magazine. The image on the front cover of the magazine I used a normal casual college girl the image was a medium shot this captured the model from the waist. The magazine was called 'Voice' and i kept a tag line which said 'its your voice use it' I thought this would be a good idea as it engages the audience and also it is short and catchy. I kept the colour scheme simple and not too vibrant. I used a forrest green for the masthead and kept the tag lines pink with white I thought this would help make my magazine stand out! The contents page included the same colours. The images I used on the contents page were students doing different activities as it would be a good idea to put in a college magazine. My photoshop and InDesgin technique while making this magazine were not that good hence the reason I didn't really know now to change text and edit pictures.

so we had to feel the urban vibe with this I made the models wear leather
jackets, hoodies, and snapback hats. The photo-shoot did not involve any
intimacy so the models were okay with the shots. Concepts would be both lively
and fun and the front cover will be semi-serious.
Special instructions: the following are requested items each
model has for their wardrobe

Variety of jackets

Different types of snapbacks
